The Earthquake Sound FF-12 takes the Slot-Port design a significant step further by fusing the Slot-Port with an advanced reflex apparatus. This new technology merges a quarter-wavelength transmission line with a variable cross-section folded-horn. This novel synthesis of technologies yields an acoustic reflex device with unsurpassed efficiency. The advanced design features coupled with rational manufacturing are keys to the FF lines unbeatable price and performance combination. All this boils down to the fact that the creation of the new FF subwoofers was no accident, rather the result of meticulous engineering building on a heritage of excellence.
The FF-12 is the culmination of the front firing range, and still the emphasis is on earthquaking performance - for a modest outlay. The FF-12 also utilises an advanced built-in 400-Watt Class “A/B” high efficiency power amplifier, and also has a front slot-port designed to tandem work with the amplifier to produce maximun output for the cabinet - for deep, satisfying low levels of undisdorted low, long and linear bass. With auto signal sensing, 0-180°phase shift and 24 dB / Octave variable filter from 40 Hz to 180 Hz, the FF12 is your 'go to' sub when the budget is modest - but where the performance criteria is high.
The FF-12's new Slot-Port provides more port volume than possible with traditional tubular port loading resulting in radically increased low frequency output. Since it is not a tubular device, it can bend at optimum angles reducing cabinet size making the subwoofer both powerful and aesthetic. It also routes laminar airflow across the aerodynamically shaped internal amplifier heat-exchangers. This forced flow cooling technique enables the FF subs to operate at continued high levels, even if fully built-in. The Slot-Port is an integral part of the subwoofer and serves as a cross brace making the cabinet very strong and resonance free.
But don’t let its price nor size fool you, this small sub can produce over Greater than 130dB peak SPL (includes room gain) from 25Hz to 125Hz. The high quality XLT driver 12" driver 'coupled' with the clever design really beggars belief, resulting in a massive boost to low frequency output, empowering the FF12 to rival ordinary designs with much larger woofers, and on paper - more powerful amplifiers. Every component of the XLT driver is designed for accurate reproduction of bass and sub-bass frequencies. With a massive moving structure, the XLT operates with extremely low distortion and impressive transient response.
